Profiles let you snapshot every detection setting for a specific film stock or scanner setup, then load the same recipe in one click.<\/p>\n

Save a Profile<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Tune the panel until detection looks right on a representative image.<\/li>\n
  2. Click Save Profile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Name it descriptively. Good examples:\n
      \n
    • Portra 400 \u2014 lab scans<\/em><\/li>\n
    • Velvia 50 \u2014 home DSLR scan<\/em><\/li>\n
    • Kodachrome 64 \u2014 mounted slides<\/em><\/li>\n
    • Tri-X push processed (chromogenic)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Load a Profile<\/h2>\n
      \"DustMagic
      Your two most recently saved profiles appear as quick buttons next to Conservative and Balanced.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
        \n
      • Click Load Profile<\/strong> for the full list, or use the two quick-buttons in the Profiles section \u2014 these always show your two most recently saved profiles.<\/li>\n
      • Loading a profile re-populates every slider and toggle and re-runs detection on the current image.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        What’s Saved<\/h2>\n
          \n
        • Film Type<\/li>\n
        • All sliders: Smallest Defect, Largest Defect, Max Fibre Width, Sensitivity<\/li>\n
        • All Advanced Settings: Minimum Contrast, Texture Penalty, Focus-Based Filtering, Scratch Detection (and its sub-controls)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Detection Resolution and the current view mode follow your session, not the profile.<\/p>\n

          Updating a Profile<\/h2>\n

          To revise a profile: load it, make changes, click Save Profile<\/strong>, and re-use the same name when prompted to overwrite.<\/p>\n

          Naming Conventions<\/h2>\n

          Pick something you’ll still understand in a year. Two patterns work well:<\/p>\n

          • By stock:<\/strong> Portra 400 \u2014 lab<\/em>, Portra 400 \u2014 home<\/em>.<\/li>\n
          • By project:<\/strong> Wedding 2024 negs<\/em>, Family archive 1970s slides<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Put any qualifier (lab<\/em>, home<\/em>, archive<\/em>) at the end, not the start \u2014 it makes the dropdown easier to scan.<\/p>\n

            Recommended Starter Set<\/h2>\n

            Most users settle on three or four profiles:<\/p>\n

            • Modern colour negs (lab)<\/strong> \u2014 Negatives + Conservative defaults.<\/li>\n
            • Older slides<\/strong> \u2014 Slides + Balanced; Texture Penalty raised slightly.<\/li>\n
