This is the fastest path from a folder of scans to a folder of cleaned files.<\/p>\n
1. Import a Folder<\/h2>\n
\n
Click \ud83d\udcc1 Import Folder<\/strong> (or press Ctrl+O<\/kbd>) and pick the folder of scans.<\/li>\n
DustMagic loads JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and BMP files into the filmstrip at the bottom.<\/li>\n
Detection runs automatically on the first image using the Conservative profile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nAfter importing, the first image opens with detected dust shown as an orange overlay.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
2. Set Film Type<\/h2>\n
In the right-hand panel, choose:<\/p>\n
\n
Slides (dark dust)<\/strong> \u2014 for positives.<\/li>\n
Negatives (light dust)<\/strong> \u2014 for inverted scans where dust appears bright.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This is the most important setting. Get it wrong and detection will be useless.<\/p>\n
3. Review the First Image<\/h2>\n
\n
Press 2<\/kbd> for Detection Overlay (orange shows what will be removed).<\/li>\n
Press 4<\/kbd> for Inpainted to preview the cleaned result.<\/li>\n
Press 5<\/kbd> for Split View \u2014 sweep the divider with your mouse.<\/li>\n
If the result looks right, you’re ready to process the batch. If not, tune Sensitivity in the panel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
4. Process Batch<\/h2>\n
\n
Click the orange Process Batch<\/strong> button at the bottom of the panel.<\/li>\n
DustMagic cleans every image in parallel across your CPU cores.<\/li>\n
A progress bar shows the queue draining.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
5. Find Your Output<\/h2>\n
\n
Cleaned files: cleaned\/<\/code> subfolder inside your source folder.<\/li>\n
Arrow through the filmstrip with \u2190<\/kbd> \u2192<\/kbd>. For an image that needs fixing, press B<\/kbd> for the Brush tool, then click Export This Image<\/strong> to save it individually before running Process Batch on the rest.
